cornerofsolitude Am I living in my own fantasy?

Probably, and some smartarses will say definitely. Anyway thats not what this post will be about, despite the title. You may have noticed that I’ve posted the fiction page again, yes that’s right folks, again. Because I’m thinking I may be able to make a go of it this time around. The fiction page will have the links to each chapter of the story I’m writing.

The overall title of the story is Post Modern Fantasy although each chapter will have their own because they can be read as a standalone. Each chapter will tell a different story, but is a piece of the whole Post Modern Fantasy. The reason why I called it Post Modern Fantasy is twofold, one I don’t have much of an imagination, hence I couldn’t come up with another better one. Two, this is the most important reason, is because it sounded good. I wanted to be post modern (whatever that means) so to speak, art imitating life imitating art that kind of stuff.

The first two parts of the story has been posted and ready to be read, one is a prologue and the other is the first chapter.

The prologue deals with the creation of this story’s universe. As a kid I used to be engrossed in stories (think of the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Viking myths) that told of the creation of the universe, the world and everything, and I always wanted to do one. I’m also a very big fan of Terry Pratchett and his Discworld novels, and as a kind of homage I’ve named the spirit beings after Terry’s second discworld novel, the Light fantastic, the one that got me hooked on all his stuff.

The first chapter is the beginning of what will be a series of adventure slash detective stories involving the unnamed protagonist private eye detective. Kinda like the Maltese Falcon meets Indiana Jones. I’ve written so many versions of this beginning (way back from primary school) that it was hard to decide which one to post, but I’ve finally settled on this one. It’s a good way to establish the setting of the story, which happens to be in hell.
