cornerofsolitude I feel relieved somehow

Because I just finished my practical test. I was nervous, and I thought that I was going to lose my shit. In actual fact I new more than I thought I did.

There was three test. An isolation test, a fault finding test, and an earth wiring test. I found the isolation test piss easy, I’ve done it a few hundred times on the job at work. The fault finding was a little more of a challenge, I’m pretty confident about it though.

The Earthing was the only one I had problems with, for a start we don’t do enough new installations for me to know much about it. But like I said I new more than I thought I did, like equipotential bonding and conductor sizes. Although if there is anything that I’m going to fail on, it is on Earthing, I know I got the 16mm² main earthing conductor and 6mm² MEN link wrong. I inadvertantly mixed them up by writing them down, it’s supposed to be the other way around, and when I came to wiring it up I followed what I wrote down.

I’ve recently started working on the afternoon shift, and now have even less time to do stuff. Lauren is pissed to say the least.

The reason for this is because my boss asked me to. Yes all right, you can call me a suckup, brown noser, or arselicker or whatever else you want, but I got the impression that I didn’t have much of a choice in the matter. When he asked me if I wanted to go on afternoon shift, at the time I agreed thinking that this was a temporary thing like a couple of weeks. As it turns out they (the bosses, management or whoever else sits on their arse making decisions) wanted another electrician on the maintenance afternoon shift.

But there are a few good things to come out of this. Firstly I’m making more money. Now that I have less time to do stuff I spend less, I also get shift allowance which is 15% more on top of what I get. Secondly I get more sleep. I can sleep in as I don’t have to go to work until the afternoon, and I can still sleep at night unlike the poor sods working on the graveyard shift who have to sleep during the day.

cornerofsolitude YA HA!

Har Har Har, yes folks I am back. Not bigger or better and neither am I wearing black.

So what happened over the last month or so? I hear you ask. Well I’ve been as a busy as an orangutan trying to gorge himself with as much banana in a banana plantation. In between working, downloading porn, harassing my friends and studying, I’ve been trying to complete my Electrical portfolio.

I had the whole month to do it. But as usual I’ve been lazy, and thus have left it to the last moment. Not that it’s not finished, I’m just trying to polish it up. It’s due monday.
