Corner of solitude

I’ve recently started working on the afternoon shift, and now have even less time to do stuff. Lauren is pissed to say the least.

The reason for this is because my boss asked me to. Yes all right, you can call me a suckup, brown noser, or arselicker or whatever else you want, but I got the impression that I didn’t have much of a choice in the matter. When he asked me if I wanted to go on afternoon shift, at the time I agreed thinking that this was a temporary thing like a couple of weeks. As it turns out they (the bosses, management or whoever else sits on their arse making decisions) wanted another electrician on the maintenance afternoon shift.

But there are a few good things to come out of this. Firstly I’m making more money. Now that I have less time to do stuff I spend less, I also get shift allowance which is 15% more on top of what I get. Secondly I get more sleep. I can sleep in as I don’t have to go to work until the afternoon, and I can still sleep at night unlike the poor sods working on the graveyard shift who have to sleep during the day.

The Sharks are off to a flying start to the NRL season, two wins from two games. Cronulla won 17 to 16 against the Storms, BOOYAH! I just hope that Souths and the Saints get their act together, their really letting the south of sydney teams down. And what about that hit on Souths’s Craig Wing, that was a disgrace. Here’s a footy related poll.

The footy season is here. There is three games that I’ll be watching out for this weekend. Souths plays the Roosters, the Sharks plays Manly, and the Saints against the Tigers. I’m barracking for Souths, Sharks and Saints. Let’s see by sunday how many of my prediction I got right.

Whoo! I’ve done it, it’s been a long time coming but my porfolio is finally finished. I’m so stoked, it’s the highlight of my day, I’m going to celebrate, it doesn’t even matter that it’s sunday. The last competency I had to sort out was Testing apparatus and circuits, and I just finished it a few minutes ago.

I’m well on my way to accomplishing my top goal of becoming a licensed electrician. A month ago I re-enrolled in the Capstone course, I’ve studied regularly and now I’ve finished fine tuning my portfolio. All I have to do is past my theory and practical exams.

My other goals haven’t been going as well, unfortunately. Here’s a rundown.

1. I haven’t added anymore content to this site.
2. I’m only halfway through reading the Colour of magic, the first Discworld novel, how the hell am I going to read all of them?
3. Getting a license is way down the bottom of my list of priorities at the moment.
4. Buying an graphics software is expensive, I’m trying to save for it.
5. Despite my resolve to blog regularly, a whole month has passed by without a single word written from me.
6. I’m upto the third NGE episode review.
7. I’ve got no time for artwork or creative writing either.
8. Saving for a trip is really hard, but I’m getting there.
9. Dental checkup is due in september, hopefully.
10. Learning a language or an instrument will have to wait after the Capstone.
